In spite of their cultural and social diversity there was agreement on the fact that the debut CD ministered effectively to the spiritual needs of the people. There was indeed great joy in the house as select songs from the CD were performed by Ike Mbamali and Trecia Gordon, one of the phenomenal lead singers on the CD.
Pastor Ike, as he is fondly called by members of the congregation, sang in his characteristic manner touching both the emotions and spirits of the people. A seasoned teacher and preacher of the Gospel, as well as an accomplished attorney, he consistently ministers in what can only be described as a heart to heart communication that brings in the tangible presence of God. The audience was brought to their feet when the reggae title track "Song of Praises" was performed by Ike Mbamali with the assistance of the Living Faith International Church dancers, who unveiled unique dance steps specifically created for the song, under the able direction of their choreographer, Foluke Arthurton.
Over ninety CDs were eagerly purchased on that day and sales to date have since eclipsed the three-hundred-unit mark. So many people that purchased the CD have reported that they play it several times over on a daily basis while others still have memorized the lyrics and melodies of the songs. Accolades continue to pour in on a daily basis even from regions as far as Italy, in Europe, where the buzz about the CD is already spreading among the immigrant community.
The uniqueness of this CD is that it blends different musical styles in such a beautiful and seamless manner that provides something of note to the hearer. Every person that has listened to the CD has one or more favorite songs but all agree that the beats are catchy, the lyrics are meaningful, the singers are outstanding and that overall it is a wonderful CD. The nature of the songs is such that they are destined to be played not only in Churches and homes but also in dancehalls, nightclubs, on the street, on radio and television. The songs are available on the Internet for sale, preview and review at www.Cdbaby.com/cd/ikembamali and digital downloads are available at over 20 popular music services. The Web site at cdbaby.com has reported numerous hits since it was set up in late September 2005. The domain name singinglawyer.net has also been reserved and the Web site itself is expected to be unveiled in early November 2005 at the latest. Plans are also underway to shoot a music video in readiness to market the songs to a worldwide audience especially to those in North America, Europe, Africa and most particularly his native country, Nigeria.
"If you're wondering about my history, that ain't no mystery", says Ike, who in his youth in Lagos, Nigeria was a part time DJ going by the name Austee Gee. During his DJ days he started working on a rap song but the draft was discovered by his sister and published to her friends. The less than enthusiastic review he received from them at that time served to bury his song writing skills until this perfect season when he is being used as God's Instrument to bring meaningful and powerful songs to the ends of the earth. His tenure as a DJ made him well acquainted with different kinds of music. This, combined with his desire to reach all people with the Gospel, has propelled him to also begin to write rap and reggaeton lyrics and melodies that will be featured in his next CD.
Some may find it strange that an attorney is also a singer, composer, teacher and preacher of the Gospel but Ike sees nothing unusual about this especially since he has been an attorney all his adult life, having been called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987 at the age of 21. He has been teaching and preaching the Gospel to audiences large and small on a part-time basis since the early nineties even after being called to the New York Bar in 1993 and running a thriving law practice at the same time. Also he has started working on a first of many motivational books, the publication of which will also add author and motivational speaker to the list of his titles. Ike Mbamali is married to his law partner, Funke Mbamali and they have three Children, Ifeoma Mbamali, Chike Mbamali and Chineze Mbamali who featured on the title track. They live in Highland Mills, a hamlet of the town of Woodbury in Orange County, New York.
